A Lone Traveller

A Lone Traveller

White water veiling wet walls
Of pebbles, stones and rocks standing tall.
Mist rising from the meandering road
Of sandy soil and destinations unknown.
A lone traveller like me walks by,
Lost and wandering under the cerulean sky.

Cold wind kissing the back of my neck,
Bringing the whispers of words unsaid.
The crunch of the dead leaves beneath my feet,
Is simultaneous with the birth of new green.
A lone traveller like me walks by,
Silent and ruminating under the turquoise sky.

Laying on a bed of soft scorpion grasses,
Blanketed in the warmth of clouds – melting and massless.
Serenaded by the summery scent of wilderness,
Soothing me with its calming caress.
A lone traveller like me walks by,
Happily wool gathering under the lilac sky.

Dew dripping from the canopy above me,
On my head and along my cheeks,
Through my sleeves to my finger tips,
Under the slaty and shadowed solar eclipse.
A lone traveller like me walks by,
Musing under the indigo and heat hued sky.

The hot setting sun is a reminder,
That the horizon is still far away.
There’s more to explore, see and feel.
More to listen, achieve and believe.
A lone traveller like me walks by,
Resting under the inky and star-lit sky.

The cold wind of the day now has a nocturnal scent,
It rids my mind and soul of all that I could repent.
My body dissolves in the warmth of my dreams
As the inky darkness of the night envelopes me.
And then,
A lone traveller like me would unwind.
Letting her tangled hair cover her idyllic smile,
As she waits for dusty dawns in her dreams,
Wishing to watch the life cycle of the surreal sky.
If only she could,
Just one last time.

~I’m back (how many times have I said this exactly wow)!

Recently I felt travel-nostalgic ( Does this make sense? xD) so I came up with this piece. It is again written through several days of inspiration.

Every now and then, I’d stare up at the clouds and the sky would be a pastel pink or sometimes pearly blue. It made me really happy somehow.

And so you see, If I were a lone traveler like the one in this poem, watching the sky change colours and how the clouds would form pretty patterns over it would be a huge part of my day! ( ๊ˆแด—๊ˆ)

I hope you enjoyed this piece! Let me know what you think about it in the comments below.

  2. Hello M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I do have a bad habit of putting lots of exclamation marks lately)
First of all, let me just acknowledge, appreciate and show my relief over the fact that you’re BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is always an amazing experience to read your words and I am always looking forward to it.

Second of all, may I just say that THIS PIECE IS AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazeballs in the way it feels so homely, despite it being about the warmth of wanderlust, this piece truly gives the reader a big cozy hug with the most heartfelt, most serene words stringed with care into stanzas.

May I also share the fact that the colours of the sky which you have used in this piece of joy are my aesthetic palate? The plethora of shades of blues, summery blues, wintery blues, oceany blues are my favourite colours in art.

“My body dissolves in the warmth of my dreams”- This specific line, though there are other gorgeous lines that you have penned down in this poetry, hits me home in the most uncanny ways ever imagined. To be honest, I just like the way that you have used the imagery in such a breathtaking, enchanting way.

Third of all, I say this all the time and I am not either tired or afraid to iterate the same phrase in your admiration, “Megha, you are THE QUEEN of IMAGERY!!!!!!!!”. The way you knit your words into pictures in the most unexplainable ways is sheer pure magic itself.

I am not a fan of descriptive poetry in general but sometimes you forget the genre you are reading when the words are so incredible, so nerve-racking. So, THANK YOU for making me empathetic towards nature and it is sheer spellbound pleasures.

You literally have managed to make me madly and desperately in love with your imagery, the sounds that I can feel in your the world of your words is alchemy itself.

Keep Writing! It is such a delight to hear your thoughts through words!

    Truckloads of love,
    Enigma :) <3 ๐Ÿ’œ

    PS: Adding purple hearts because:
    1. You are an ARMY!
    2. In celebration of the 1000 days of the phrase "I purple you"

PPS: I purple you, by the way!

PPS: Damn, my fangirl side is showing!

    1. E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Returns your enthusiasm of exclamation marks*

This comment of yours put an ear-to-ear smile on my face I swear! I always wait for your comments, because damn gurl your feedbacks and reviews are always the most in-depth, most genuine, most detailed and the loveliest of all! Plus, you always string them together in such an encouraging and heartwarming way. ( ๊ˆแด—๊ˆ).

I’m so happy this piece felt like a warm hug of wanderlust to you ( because wanderlust, warmth and comfort were exactly what I was going for when I was writing this). You capture what I want to convey so greatly. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

And I used a part of my favourite warm aesthetic colour palate here!
Pastels, blues, lilac, hints of orange, purple, teal, reds and yellow ah! They’re the most comforting and warm concoction of colours ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’œ

The line you’re quoting is the line that caught me in when I read this after completing it.
It genuinely makes me so happy you enjoyed this piece even though you don’t prefer descriptive poetry.

      And ah, *Inhales deeply*
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH E! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ
You love my imagery and I love your words.
      So much.
Like…. I probably can’t even sum it up here.

      I PURPLE YOU SO MUCH ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ’œ

*Throws tanks full of purple hearts, love and support at you with all my might*

PS. Yay 1000 days with such a meaningful and beautiful quote!
I’m so happy Taehyungie added such a lovely meaning to the colour purple. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

      PPS. Let’s fangirl together!

Absolutely amazing, Meghaa. You’re a wonderful writer, we already know that, but honestly, you’re posting masterpieces after each one now. I can’t even say that it’s your best work, because I probably said that for the last post already, and they’re all so wonderful ๐Ÿ’™

Keep writinggg, girll. You could publish all these and we’d see your name on the shelves of bookstores :’)

  4. Exceptional art in verse. Your description of the world around places the reader immediately in the scene, awash with color, texture and sound. The from is beautiful and lyrical with the haunting refrain, the touchstone for the emotions it shares with each lonely traveler aware of the wonder held in each step and every new day. I would have followed you even if this was the only thing you had ever written, just so I could come back and read it again and again! Master work!

    1. Oh god.
Thank you so so so so SO much Brad! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ
Infact, a “Thank you” probably doesn’t even sum up my gratitude.
Waking up to this comment is the best way to start a day. The way you have described my piece is so beautiful and poetic in itself. If reading it could put you in a happy traveler’s shoes then my job is done.
I really am beyond happy that you found this piece worth calling “exceptional art” and something you’d alone follow me for. ( can’t believe it omg =))

Your description of it will really stick with me.
      Thank you so much!
