Our Dying Duet

To my dear best friend I dedicate this duet.
A duet that I will sing alone for the first time.
This duet that narrates our journey up and down the scale,
To find symphonies in words that don’t even rhyme.

From the start let us begin,
When I had first heard you play the violin.
Oh, how you thought you were not good.
But you felt music the way none of us ever understood.

I never knew that was the start of something,
Of something unforgettably rare.
With every symphony we wrote and sung,
Both of us resurfaced from our dreadful despair.

And so we wrote and sang together.
Each and every song had parts of our soul.
But our passion for music soon became a sensation.
None of us knew we could be so much more.

Around the world we went to sing the lyrics to our symphonies.
And with your smile and voice always by my side,
I was living the life I had only ever dreamed.

From long walks and cat-fights,
To mid-day coffee sessions and intoxicating nights.
We were always together and never apart.
Because though unknowingly, we had exchanged our hearts.

Blushing under the cherry blossoms,
You sang me the song you wrote for me.
Happily chatting about the harmony of love,
We used to sit under the blooming tree.

You listened to me and I heard you,
And even our silence used to sing,
All the words our lips couldn’t do.
But now that you’re lost and gone,
I feel so empty and withdrawn.

All my rhyme and lyrics seem so wrong,
Without you I can’t and won’t sing our songs.
Because losing you to oblivion I lost my voice too.
All I wonder now is why tragedy had to consume us two.

To my dear best friend I dedicate this duet.
This duet that will be my last.
Because as I near the end of this tragic tale of ours,
As I end this eulogy knowing that you’re looking down at me from among the stars.
I will soon fall down beside your bones,
And may we forever hold hands even under our gravestones.

  1. And see Madame , the lines ringing in my Madame’s poetry I felt ;
    ” A couple we were ,
    A shadow we were ,
The storms of the rising tomorrow ,
Alone we were the rising Stars
Of the night casting a full moon hollow,
    You are my companion ,
My love for the duet we scythe ,
My pain , my lore ,
You were my charollette happy hold .
But then as just splits of the trasated ,
    The currents of terror ,
Had found a way to rise and smoke ,
The tears of the blessed ,
The chimes of the light ,
Had burst in me a line of distance ,
One that cursed me a sorrow ,
    I see,
    I cry ,
I wish to heal my never land nearing my follow ,
Without you in this world ,
I am lost in the depths of the hollow ,
Come back you dear mine ,
    I perhaps can’t rise
In these depths of hell and morrow ” 😭

      1. I don’t take it to the “couple” way Madame , I take it in the way platonic love makes two incarnated sould to couple in the travasities of nature. As I feel , my Madame’s poemo always dooms me into way land of a thousand of beautiful emotions . But Madame , isn’t just every platonic character a resplendent form of a couple , be it your best friend of the same gender ? πŸ˜„πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š

          1. I see it just as the way My Madame sentimentally wrote this with all feelings about , just as beautiful and aroable as my Madame presented in the way it has to be πŸ˜„πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š

  3. This is yet another beautiful poem , Megha.πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œLove it so very much. It touched my heart.❀ Here’s all what I have to say…….

    This is so heart warming
    A friendship never ending
    Always by each other’s side
Embracing the moments when together we laughed and cried
No sinister power can rip us apart
We’ll always be close at heart
Together we celebrate , together we sigh
Even among those starlit skies, together we’ll lie.

    Much love❀

  4. It’s the symphony of hearts and you bring it out so well in this poem. The same rhythms even the silence knows, they are no more once we lose the person and then…..it’s only the silence that beats, plays, sings and repeats. But never can we have our rhapsody back again. For the strings that tied us together are no more taut and you can’t play the guitar with only a few coiled strings. Can you?
This is a beautiful poem, Megha. Absolutely loved it!β€πŸ’•πŸ’—πŸ’–πŸ’žπŸ’“
