That Sunny Day

Such was her scent,
Leaving me to repent.
Conjuring up memories I had buried deep within.
Drowning yet again in all my past sins.

Her image floated through my mind,
And I cursed myself to have been so blind.
People always come and go,
Some in happiness and some in sorrow.

I remember how I had stood right there,
Looking at her feet where my heart lay bare.
She had to go and it had to be done.
I was to be left alone with no one.

But isn’t life funny?
Because one fine day when the sky was warm and sunny.
There came a familiar scent to my nose.
Could it be her, I wondered.
In all honesty, who knows?
β€Ž
Torn apart by society and brought together by fate.
The faint smile on her face said it wasn’t too late.
β€ŽSo we sat down side by side and smiled.
Remembering all the adventures we had and the places we had been,
We conjured up memories we had buried deep within.
